Journey Tracker uses your phone to record a business journey for you. You tap once when you set off and once when you arrive. Mighty works out the miles and creates the mileage claim, so you don't need to remember postcodes or look up distances later.
If you'd like to know what a mileage claim is and how much you get for each mile, start with How to claim mileage for a business journey.
Journey Tracker uses GPS (the part of your phone that knows where you are) at two moments only: when you select Start journey and when you select End journey. It then works out the distance by road between those two places.
It does not follow you while you travel. So it doesn't drain your battery, and it works even if you lock your phone or lose signal on the way.
Because Mighty measures the road between your start and your end, the miles are for a direct drive. If you took a much longer route for a business reason, you can change the miles before you save.
You can add Mighty to your phone's home screen so Journey Tracker is one tap away.
Once Mighty is on your home screen, open it and select Journey Tracker on your dashboard or in the menu. On Android you can also press and hold the Mighty icon and choose Journey Tracker from there.
The first time you select Start journey, your phone asks if Mighty can use your location. Choose Allow. Mighty only checks your location when you press Start or End.
Mighty keeps the route with your claim. On a computer, open Expenses > Mileage Claims, select the three dots on the journey, and choose View route.
If your phone has no internet when you arrive, Mighty can't measure the road. You'll see a message asking you to enter the miles yourself. Type the distance in Miles (one-way) and carry on. Your start and end points are still saved with the claim.
Your phone isn't sure exactly where you are. This often happens indoors. Move outside or near a window and select Try again. If you're happy with the position anyway, select Use this position anyway.
Your phone has been told not to share your location with Mighty. On an iPhone, open Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Location Services, and allow it for your browser. On Android, allow location for the site in your browser settings. Then select Try again.
Select Discard this journey, then add the trip by hand on the Mileage Claims screen. How to claim mileage for a business journey shows you how.
Each person needs permission to claim expenses. Ask your company's main user, or your accountant, to turn it on for you.
You only see Engine type if your company is VAT registered or the car belongs to the company. Mileage, VAT and company cars explains which one to choose.
