Your PAYE reference, sometimes referred to as an Employer Reference Number (ERN) is essential for filing payroll with HMRC if you’re paying yourself a salary from your company.
This will be in a format similar to 123/AB4567 and HMRC sends this within 30 days of registering your company for PAYE. You’ll also find it on any PAYE letters or emails from HMRC, as well as on payslips, P45s, or P60s issued by your company.
If you’re new to Mighty and had a previous accountant, we’ll reach out to them to get this for you so we can add it into Mighty and set up your payroll for the year, so no need to stress.
If you haven't yet registered, we have a guide on how to register here. However, we would advise having a conversation with us first so we can provide some tax planning advice on whether paying yourself a salary is the best approach. Feel free to email us at support@mightyaccounting.com and we’ll be happy to help.
